As spring approaches, local anglers are being asked to remove their ice huts.
The Ministry of Natural Resources says removing ice huts becomes more difficult as the weather warms up because of unanticipated thaws.
Officials say they have had past problems of huts going through the ice and becoming hazards for boaters and the environment.
The MNR adds owners who abandon their huts may be fined and could be liable for removal costs.
