Two tourist outfitters from the Fort Frances area have been hit with a hefty fine for various fish and wildlife offences.
William Godin and Nellie Halverson have been ordered to pay a total of $13,000 as the result of an undercover investigation between October 2015 and October 2016.
The probe was the result of public tips and complaints.
The owners of the Lake Despair Lodge pleaded guilty to the sale of moose meat and angler-caught fish to paying guests and failing to comply with the Licence Issuing Manual.
They received a two-year probation order.
Godin was also fined for failing to wear hunter orange and possessing a loaded firearm in a powerboat.
The investigation also revealed that during guided deer hunts, Godin advised hunters that they didn’t need to wear hunter orange and took them to a “No Trespassing” area.
