Transition Time For MNR Fire Crews

The Ministry of Natural Resources is scaling back forest fire fighting operations.
The MNR is now preparing for the winter shutdown.
That includes the winterization of fire bases and specialized equipment.
Several employee contracts have also expired.
For the first time since the start of the fire season, there are no fires currently burning in northwestern Ontario.
The final fires were declared out in Sioux Lookout on Monday.
Information Officer Heather Pridham isn’t expecting any major fire activity before the end of the season on October 31st.
However, she notes new fires may flare up and they are prepared for any activity.
If you see a forest fire call 310-FIRE.
