Treaty Rights First Question for New MPP

The MPP for Kenora-Rainy River is asking the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs to stand up for First Nations rights.
The KI First Nation has walked away from talks with the Province because the Government hasn’t reassured the community that it can’t hold back gold mining operations on traditional land.
Sarah Campbell used her first question in the Legislature Wednesday to grill the Minister.
Campbell says the move points to the Government’s short-coming to set clear guidelines for consultations in regards to exploration on traditional lands.
She demanded that the Minster work with First Nations as equal partners.
