Trustees Approve School Budget

It was a struggle but the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has
approved the 2006-2007 budget.
The Board had to axe 7-teaching positions it set aside to reduce class
sizes as well as eliminate $450,000 from the computer
replacement budget.
Superintendent of Finance Dean Carrie says a change in the Provincial
funding formula has made it more difficult to balance the books.
The Board is looking to spend over $86-million this year with
$73 million set aside for operating expenditures, $10-million in capital
work and $2.6-million in school activities.
Carrie notes the Board may need to look at the feasibility of several programs down the road including oral language and early and late literacy.
