TSB Releases Report On Float Plane Crash

Faulty floats are being blamed for a plane crash northwest of Kenora almost a year and a half ago.
The Transportation Safety Board has released its final report into the crash on Trout Lake on August 1st, 2012.
Investigators says there appeared to be some corrosion in the hardware that anchored the floats to the plane.
The TSB says the floats likely went out of alignment shortly after take off, resulting in a loss of airspeed, and ultimately causing the plane to stall and crash into some trees in a remote location on the lake.
While the occupants sustained only minor injuries, investigators suggest quick work by local residents and emergency service personnel likely contributed to the survival of the occupants of the plane.
The pilot and his two passengers on the private plane were from Cloquet, Minnesota.
The report says the pilot was experienced in the operation of the float plane, and was not likely a factor in the crash.
