The community of Dryden is invited to wear green and white Tuesday as it is Franco-Ontarian Day.
There will be a flag raising at Dryden High School at 9:15am with another flag raising at City Hall at 10:00am, followed by games and activities at DHS from 11:00am to 2pm.
Josh Blackman and Emma Penner-McKee were guests on the CKDR Morning Show Monday to promote the day.
Blackman says it’s great to celebrate the Francophone contributions to the social, political, cultural life of the province.
He adds the day is important to him since his family has many French speakers and notes it’s an opportunity to recognize the language and heritage of the Francophone community of Ontario.
Penner-McKee says her mom’s side of the family speaks French and she loves the opportunity to speak a second language.
She says the Franco-Ontarian flag was first unveiled on September 25th, 1975 at Laurentian University in Sudbury.
