The Keewatin Patricia District School Board is owed over
2 milion dollars in tuition from 5 area First Nation Bands.
Washagamis Bay owes over a million dollars, and offered
the board a 370-thousand dollar down payment over the next
three months.
Superintendent of Finance Dean Carrie says the band
hasn’t made another payment offer since the end of August.

The Band and Council of Washagamis Bay says the million
dollar debt is a historical one, and about 75% is interest.
Washagamis Bay students will be allowed back to classes
once the debt is paid.
