Two Local Teens Alive Thanks To Heroic Efforts Of Fort Frances Man

A Fort Frances man has being hailed a hero after saving two young girls in a single vehicle crash.

The teenagers were returning to Dryden from a pow-wow when the driver of the small car swerved to avoid a moose on Highway 502 early Monday morning and rolled several times ending up in some water in a ditch.

Purolator Courier Brian Godin was travelling south and spotted the two and managed to pull them to safety.

Godin adds the crash happened at around 1:45, and no other cars were around.

Godin notes says he probably wouldn’t have spotted them if he left at his normal time which is an hour and a half later.

He managed to drive up the highway a few kilometres to get 9-1-1 service, noting it was a miracle as that area rarely has service.

Godin notes if the driver was wearing a seatbelt, she probably wouldn’t have survived the crash, noting the car was smashed on the drivers side.

This wasn’t his first rescue and family members of the crash victims are grateful for his assistance.

The girls were transported to hospital in Fort Frances with multiple injuries.
