The provincial government says it’s making moves to address a shortage of hospital beds.
Minister of Health and Long Term Care Eric Hoskins says they are committing $140-million to add some 1,200 beds.
In northwestern Ontario, the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora will be getting four of the new beds, while the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center is eligible for 12.
There’s also going to be 26 short term transitional care spaces in Thunder Bay and Kenora for patients not needing a hospital.
