Unifor Looking Forward To 2016

After a near collapse of the sawmill industry in 2008, things have turned around in northwestern Ontario.

Unifor says the New Year is off to an encouraging start with sawmills in Ear Falls and Kenora ramping up production.

Local National representative Stephen Boon says some 400-jobs will be created when all is said and done.

Boon stresses these jobs are at the top of all Eastern Canadian sawmills.

He notes top rates of pay will reach just under $42 per hour by 2020.
