UPDATE: Three COVID-19 Cases In Sandy Lake

The Northwestern Health Unit is now reporting a total of three new cases in the Sioux Lookout area.

The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority previously notified that two individuals had tested positive for COVID-19 within the community of Sandy Lake First Nation.

There is now an additional case within the same household making the total three cases.

Cases were travel related and individuals are being monitored and are safely self-isolating in the community.

Contact tracing is underway.

The most important public health message:

  • If you have symptoms which could be caused by COVID, contact the nursing station for assessment
  • If you have had close contact with a known case, contact the nursing station for assessment.
  • Close contact is unmasked contact, for 15 minutes, less than six feet apart and involvement in activities where you touch common surfaces frequently, share utensils etc.

You are once again asked to continue physical distancing, wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces and maintain good hand hygiene
