Kenora M.P. Roger Valley says he’s disappointed the Conservative government has decided not to support a private members bill guaranteeing a certain number of M.P.’s from northern ontario in the House of Commons.
Bill C-290 was introduced on Wednesday night and was modelled after a similar piece of legislation adopted by the provincial government last year.
Valley says the bill would have ensured northern Ontario
would have a minimum of ten members of parliament, regardless of how much the population in the region has decreased.
N001 Q: …decreased. (15 secs.)
Valley says the Conservatives, including the Minister Responsible for Fednor, Tony Clement voted against the private members bill and that suggests this region isn’t
important for the federal government.
