The Vice-Chair of the Federal Committee on the Status of Women is lashing out at the Federal Government for ignoring a comprehensive report into violence against women.
NDP MP Irene Mathyssen and NDP Kenora Candidate Tania Cameron held a small round-table discussion in Dryden last Thursday.
Mathyssen says the Native Women’s Association of Canada spent 5-years gathering data about missing and murdered women in this country.
She stresses the Government has sat on the report and its “all smoke and mirrors” when it comes to violence against women.
Mathyssen adds that they have been waiting since March for the allocation of $10-million, noting “that is spit” for what’s needed to begin the healing process.
