Wabigoon Band and Council on Two Feathers

The Chief and Council of Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation are voicing their support for the Two Feathers Forest Products value-added initiative.
Members of the media and non-band members were asked to leave a meeting discussing the project last month.
Chief Ruben Cantin says in a press release that the move was made due to the high level of disclosure being given and notes they had legal counsel on site.
Cantin adds that the Executive of Two Feathers has been providing the necessary information and reports to the Chief and Council as required.
He also points out that Wabigoon Lake provides financial information on an annual basis during a presentation by its Auditor.
Cantin says inaccurate press releases and misleading information about finances and the entire project are hampering efforts.
The project started in 2004 and has received considerable funding from both levels of Government.
Two Feathers is a partnership with Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, Pikangikum First Nation, Eagle Lake First Nation, and Finland’s Wood Tech Group Canada that specializes in high quality pre-manufactured timber buildings for export overseas.
