Walk To Remember Missing Indigenous Women Arrives In NWO

A British Columbia man is walking across Canada to help raise awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

Matthew Jefferson has reached the northwestern Ontario leg of his journey.

He calls his journey “The Walk to Remember.”

He says it was the disappearance of his aunt Frances Brown, a First Nations woman, last October that led to his travel.

“There’s still be no recovered and not a whole lot of searching outside her home community so my whole trip is to help raise awareness for the missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, two-spirited, men, and boys,” says Jefferson.

He says it’s important to continue the dialogue.

“We’ve got a much younger generation that’s more accepting of change and difference. We got a lot more open mind and now’s the time to hunker down together and talk about all of this.”

Jefferson hopes to reach St. John’s, Newfoundland by mid-January.
