Warren Paterson Hawke passed away peacefully, June 30, 2012 at the Palliative Care Unit of NRGH after a battle with cancer. He was 63. Born and raised in Dryden, Ontario he later got his B.A. in History from the University of Manitoba. He worked at a variety of jobs, travelled, and lived in many places, most recently on Vancouver Island, but being a musician was the one constant in his life. He loved music and played his sax in many different bands. He also owned sailboats and enjoyed racing them on the lakes in Ontario and was a member of the Dryden Yacht Club.
Predeceased by his father, Tom, he is survived by his mother Elizabeth (Betty) Hawke, sister Sheila Hawke (George), nieces Holly Knox (Jason) and Kelly McGolrick, 2 great nieces and his wife,Loring Kuhn.
Warren was a quiet, considerate, gentle man with a good sense of humour. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by family, friends and all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life was held July 5thin Nanaimo. Donations in his name can be sent to Amnesty International or the Palliative Care Unit of NRGH.
