Water meters are coming and very soon.
Residents and businesses can have their water meter installed starting on Monday.
There will be no initial charge to homeowners for the meter or the installation of the meter during the installation period which runs until March 31st as the City has received a grant which pays for two-third’s of the cost.
The remainder will be recovered over time time as part of a water user fee, which has not been set.
Director of Public Works and Engineering Mike Louttit says they will make some expectations, as Snowbirds often head south of the border during the period set aside.
The City is also investigating a fairness policy when it comes to water flushing and other issues.
If you don’t install a meter, the flat rate will double after March 31st.
An information session is being held Wednesday night at the Rec Centre from 4 until 9.
