Water Meter Project Moving Forward In September

Those patiently waiting for the activation of water meters may not have to wait much longer.
Director of Engineering Mike Louttit says most of the meters have been installed and some minor issues are now being ironed out.
Louttit says some pit meters still need to be installed.
Louttit says he will bring the recommended fee model to council in September.
Louttit notes shadow billing will begin shortly after Council approval of the fee model and notes residents will be given ample time to monitor their consumption and determine what their monthly bill may be.
He says they have been reading the meters since May.
Louttit stresses they will be communicating with residents on a regular basis to help them understand how their bill has been put together and how their water meter works.
He says the City will also be providing tips on how to conserve water.
