Water Troubles In Grassy Narrows First Nation

Poor drinking water quality has prompted a state of emergency to be declared at Grassy Narrows First Nation, near Kenora.

This after recent testing found turbidity to be 120 times over the safe limit.

Parts of the community have been on a “Do Not Consume” order for the past two years because of elevated levels of uranium while a boil water order has been in place for the past year.

Bottled water is now being delivered to every household in the community.
