The RCMP in Manitoba say charges have been laid against Kenora hockey player, Mike Richards.
Richards has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, while trying to enter Canada
from the United States earlier this summer.
He is scheduled to make a first court appearance on September 10th.
As a result of the incident the Los Angeles Kings terminated Richards contract.
There was five years and 22 million dollars remaining on the deal.
The NHL players association is planning to appeal.
