Agreement To Connect Remote Aboriginal Communities

A First Nation power organization and a transmission company are taking major steps to connect remote aboriginal communities.

Wataynikaneyap Power and Fortis-RES signed an agreement to connect 16 remote First Nation communities to the electricity grid.

Power Chair Margaret Kenequanash says they are awaiting word on funding from both levels of government.

Kenequanash feels the Feds will want to pitch in since they’re paying millions of dollars for diesel fuel for the remote communities.
