The organizers of Dryden’s ‘We Run This City’ half-marathon are giving back to recreational projects in the community.
The September race raised $2,000 for the upkeep of the Ghost/Mavis Lake trails and $1,000 for the Laura Howe Marsh trail system.
Liz Godin and Jasmine Collin were guests on the CKDR Morning Show Wednesday to thank the community, businesses, sponsors and participants for their overwhelming support.
Some 81-runners and 45-volunteers took part in the first ever fundraising race.
Godin says the race attracted runners from Winnipeg to Thunder Bay, Fort Frances, several from Sioux Lookout, one athlete from Brandon and all parts in-between.
The 2019 run will be held on September 1st, with registration opening on Boxing Day.
Collin is urging everyone to sign-up early.
She notes they are now looking for volunteers and sponsors for the 2019 race.
