Weekend Fire Wrap

The fire hazard is now high across Northwestern Ontario.
7 new forest fires were reported over the weekend in the Red Lake, Dryden, Sioux Lookout and Nipigon Districts but all were kept under 1.5-hectares in size.
The fires were both human and lightning caused.
The Ministry of Natural Resources says the hazard is expected to rise and the public is urged to use caution with outdoor fires.
Meantime, smoke from large fires in Northern Manitoba and the United States will continue to drift into our area over the next few days.
