West Nile in Northwestern Ontario

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting its first positive cases of
the West Nile virus this Summer.
Environmental Health Officer Al Mathers says 2-dead crows collected in Fort
Frances have tested positive for the mosquito born virus.
Mathers stresses the risk of human cases is very low and notes most individuals who become infected experience no symptoms.
He says the Health Unit’s surveillance program is ongoing and no
West Nile positive mosquitoes have been identified.
