Northwestern Ontario has its first west nile positive
mosquito of 2007.
Al Mathers is the Environmental Health Officer with the
Northwestern Health Unit.
Mathers says the mosquito was picked up from a trap in
the Fort Frances area.

The public is asked to take protective measures to avoid
human infection, including draining standing water, and
using repelent containing deet.
Meantime, the Northwestern Health Unit is no longer
accepting dead birds. A total of 11 west nile positive
birds were identified this summer.
