Wabigoon’s Wade Wetelainen made headlines at the Sioux Lookout Men’s Blueberry Open Golf Tournament.
Wetelainen set a new course record this weekend for 18 holes with a score of 66, 4 under par.
Manager of Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club Gus MacLellan says the previous course record was 67, which was set in 2012.
McLellan says Wetelainen made 5 birdies and only 1 bogey when he played his last 18 holes.
He adds Wetelainen made a 30 ft putt on number 16 for his final birdie of the day and then proceeded to par in to finish his round and win the open.
Wetelainen’s final score over 2 days was 134, which was 10 strokes better than his closest competitor.
