Weyerhaeuser News

Canada has won the latest round in the Softwood Lumber dispute with the United States, but that doesn’t mean Weyerhaeuser is claiming victory.
The World Trade Organization has ruled Provincial stumpage programs are not subsidies.
Weyerhaeuser Spokesperson Jayne Murray says they don’t feel this is the end to a dispute that has cost them $25 million a quarter this year.
Murray says they are bracing for a long dispute despite the ruling.

The Dryden Mill’s #3 recovery boiler, which will be taken out of service next March, may have found a second life.
The Mill hopes to preserve the boiler and possibly convert it to a turbo-generator.
Meantime, continuing construction at the Dryden Weyerhaeuser Mill means no tours for a second straight year.
Work continues on the Air Emmissions project and the high traffic in the area has increased the safety concern for visitors and mill workers.
A company spokesperson says the project is on schedule and they are entering their peak time with up to 300 workers on site.
The completion date for the recovery unit is June of next year.
