It was a true battle between two long time rivals and when the dust settled the Kenora Broncos came out on top of a 8-0 win over the Dryden Eagles in the Winnipeg High School Football season opener Friday.
Both teams ended the first half scoreless, but Kenora running-back Grant Shelske followed up a 60-yard run with a 3-yard towchdown plunge in the third to secure the victory.
Eagles Coach Geoff Zilkans says they just couldn’t capitalize on their chances
The Eagles managed over 100-yards on the ground and forced 4 turnovers.
Dryden is back on the field next Friday in Winnpeg.
What a Battle to Open Football Season
