What’s Happening With The ELA?

It’s been a couple months since there’s been any update about the Experimental Lakes Area, west of Vermilion Bay.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell says the fall deadline to come up with a transition plan is fast approaching.
Campbell says she’s going to approach Premier Kathleen Wynne once they return to Queens Park in September and ask where things are at.
Campbell says she also wants to know if there’s anything that can be done to speed up the process.
Kenora MP Greg Rickford was not available for comment. Prior to the summer break, Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Winnipeg-based International Institute for Sustainable Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding this past spring regarding the ownership transfer of the ELA.
