The fate of Seargent Llyod White’s career with the Kenora
Police service will be decided this afternoon.
White was facing six charges under the police services
act, but the hearing officer dropped four of them.
The 43-year old veteran officer plead guilty to neglect
of duty for failing to report important information, and
discredible conduct.
The prosecution is looking for White to be demoted to a
first class constable for two years, with an option of
being promoted back to seargent.
Meanwhile, the defence wants White to keep his rank, and
submitted letters of character from prominent Kenora
residents, including two city councillors.
White was one of two officers involved in the murder
investigation of Max Kakegamic in Downtown Kenora in
October of 2000.
