Why the Lights went out in Dryden

A direct hit from Mother Nature.
That’s the word today from Hydro one as to what caused Monday’s
noonhour blackout in Dryden.
Manager Russ Wesley says the Richan Rd transformer was struck by
lightning knocking 5,000 customers off the grid for about 90 minutes.
Another transformer near the old fairgrounds was hit overnite but
Wesley says a switch was all that had to be replaced there & service was
quickly restored.
