Winter Road Network Open

Traffic is flowing on vital winter transportation links to remote First Nations across Northwestern Ontario.
A frigid December and chilly January has meant an early start to winter road construction.
At Bearskin Lake First Nation, residents have already started driving south over the 256-kilometres of frozen swamp and ice to the all-season North Road which connects to Pickle Lake.
The road to Bearskin Lake runs through Muskrat Dam First Nation, with links to Weagamow Lake, Keewaywin, Koocheching and Sachigo Lake First Nations.
Winter roads connect 31 remote communities to the province’s permanent highway and rail systems.
