Winter Weather Holds Back Paving Of Duke Street

The City of Dryden says the paving of Duke Street will not be happening in 2014 because of the arrival of winter weather and frost.

The cold temperatures will directly affect the quality of the paving and will not meet provincial standards to ensure the lifespan of the paving material.

Manager of Public Works Blake Poole says the paving of the project will be deferred to 2015.

The City is working directly with the general contractor, Makkinga Contracting, to put in place a plan to finalize all necessary infrastructure works in 2014 and to prepare and maintain the gravel road surface adequately for winter travel.

The project is currently trending under budget and any provincial funding for the project is secured and will be carried over for in 2015.
