An undercover police officer testified at the trial for Timothy Osmar that the accused told him he killed two people so he would be accepted into a crime organization.
Detective Mark Sheffer said Osmar got the idea the organization needed something to hold over his head.
Osmar is charged with first-degree murder in the 1998 deaths of Raymond Greenwood of Dinorwic and Theodore Keeper of Thunder Bay.
Both were beaten and stabbed in Thunder Bay.
Sheffer testified he took Osmar to see another officer who was posing as a crime boss.
He said it was there that Osmar said he killed Greenwood and Keeper and later repeated the information in a home that was bugged.
