Work is officially underway to develop a “Community Well Being” strategy for the Dryden, Ignace and Vermilion Bay area.
More than 55 agencies, crossing all sectors, recently sat down to begin work on building a strong, healthy and vibrant community to live in.
Steering Committee Co-Chair Ann Tkachyk says they did identify some very serious complex issues.
Tkachyk says barriers remain in housing, food, transportation as well as mental health and addiction.
Tkachyk says they will look at all of the information collected and determine where to go next.
The “Community Well Being” strategy involves representatives from social services, seniors, police, childcare, health and First Nations.
Tkachyk adds they want to create healthier and more productive individuals that will contribute to the community.
