Workplace Wellness Challenge Underway

The Northwestern Health Unit has launched its Workplace Wellness Challenge.

The competition allows workplaces to form teams and live healthier lifestyles for possible prizes.

Health Promoter Christine McLeod says they want people to start thinking more about how much physical activity they are getting, how much fruits and vegetables they are eating and how much sleep they are getting.

McLeod notes a friendly competition between colleagues and workplaces can motivate us to be more active, eat a healthier diet, get more sleep and decrease the time we spend in front of the computer or TV.

She adds research has shown that poor health can lead to increased stress, decreased morale and decreased effectiveness in the workplace.
