A new report suggests meat and dairy industries are standing in the way of efforts to fight climate changes.
It claims 35 of the world’s largest meat and dairy companies emit more greenhouse gases than some oil and gas producers.
Co-author Shefali Sharma suggests they account for 15% of all emissions and warns that could grow to 80% by 2050.
Sharma says if we want to get on a path to actually curb and limit climate change to something that humanity can stand, then they must re-visit and regulate the path that these companies take.
She adds the world should move away from the industrial farming model to help both the environment and workers
The report also contends many agricultural companies don’t report or grossly under-report their greenhouse gas emissions.
