Wynne Responds To Power Dam Concerns

The Power Dam Special Payment Program dominated talks at the Association of Municipalities Ontario Conference.
Mayor of Wawa Linda Nowicki noted her fears that consultations won’t change the governments decision.
Wawa stands to lose 47 percent of it’s tax base without the payments.
In response, Premier Kathleen Wynne did say she would ask finance officials to discuss property taxes during the meetings.
The call to allow communities to charge property taxes on dams came from the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association.
