A 51-year-old woman is in custody after Provincial Police were alerted of an injured child in Pikangikum First Nation.
The incident dates back to last September when police were notified by Tikinagan Family and Child Services that an infant child living in one of their homes was transported to hospital in Winnipeg with serious injuries.
As a result of a lengthy probe, OPP say Anita Strang of Pikangikum has been charged with aggravated assault.
Police continue to investigate.
