Fort Frances and Thunder Bay are the lucky communities
chosen to house new youth detention centres.
Fort will soon have a 12 bed centre dedicated soley to
aboriginal youth, while Thunder Bay will have a 16 bed
facility.
Thunder Bay Superior North MPP Michael Gravelle says he
can understand why some communities are upset with the
Province’s choice of locations.

Kenora was one of the municipalities who wished to house
the youth detention centre.
Fort Frances, Thunder Bay & Ottawa are sharing 28
million dollars in Provincial funding for construction
costs.
