60 Minutes May Feature Eagle Lake Hockey Player

CBS TV’s flagship program “Sixty Minutes” is coming to Fort Frances this weekend, and reports say they’ll be keeping their eye on a 10 year old “Squirt” player from Eagle Lake First Nations.

Sixty Minutes is profiling the community of Warroud MN, which has numerous players in the NHL and two who have been named to the US Olympic Team.

10-year old Daimon Gardner from Eagle Lake First Nations plays on Warroud’s Squirt team and is cited as an example of numerous young players who have moved to Warroud to take advantage of their hockey program

Two of his sisters (Mariah & Demi Gardner)both play on the Warroad High School hockey team and eldest sister Kayla is in her first year at the University of North Dakota on a full hockey scholarship.

It is not known if the feature will be on Sixty Minutes or will be used as part of CBS’s Olympic Coverage.
