7-12 Model Working Well At Beaver Brae In Kenora

Nothing but rave reviews for the new grade 7-12 model at Beaver Brae High School in Kenora.
The program was introduced this year amid some scepticism.
Principal Clinton Bruetsch says the experience has been nothing but positive and he no longer has to force students to go to class.
Bruetsch says the younger and older students both love the new set-up and notes he’s seen a major difference in the maturity level.
Bruetsch believes attendance and student grades are both on the rise.
He says teachers and parents have also praised the initiative.
Bruetsch notes they’ve had one case of bullying or harassment of grade 7 and 8’s by older students and that was between two siblings.
He admits there has been some minor glitches but notes they are being worked on as the school year progresses.
The school is launching a survey to get more feedback about the move and Bruetsch says the upcoming report cards will also point a clearer picture.
