Abitibi-cuts-Leclerc

Abitibi-Consolidated says as many as 200 jobs could be lost when it permanently closes one of the paper machines at the newsprint mill in Kenora in October.

Denis Leclerc is a spokesperson for the company and says more jobs could be affected if they have to idle a second paper machine, due to high operating costs.

N004 Q: …PRODUCTION COSTS. (25 SECS.)

Leclerc says the company is seriously looking at developing a co-generation plant for the Kenora mill, but will need help from the provincial government to go ahead with that project.
