Another Quiet Forest Fire Season

There is still 1-month left in the forest fire season, but the Ministry of Natural Resources is in full wind-down mode.
The MNR says 351-forest fires have so far burned just over 9,500 hectares of area land.
Last year’s totals across this Region were 194-fires and nearly 14,000 hectares of land consumed.
The average over the past 5-years is 626-forest fires, with over 45,000 hectares burned.
Information Officer Debbie McLean says they still want to promote fire safety, especially with hunters heading out into the bush.
There was 1 new forest fire reported Sunday in the Dryden District.
