The Northwestern Health Units anti-smoking postcard campaign has been a huge success in its early stages.
Last week, the regions Chief Medical Officer of Health sent an open letter to every household in the Kenora-Rainy River district asking people to sign a postcard urging municipal councils to implement a smoke-free bylaw.
Dr. Pete Sarsfield says over 26-hundred postcards have been returned in the past 48-hours.
Meantime, Sarsfield is ready to do battle as he is to meet with municipal leaders on Friday.
Sarsfield will make a presentation at the annual Kenora District Municipal Association meeting in Pickle Lake.
As of late, some questions have arisen regarding the financing of the massive postcard campaign.
Sarsfield says he doesnt know what all the fuss is about.
He says a majority of the money came from a provincial smoking prevention group, and 5-6 thousand dollars came out of their general budget.
