A Fort Frances man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the second-degree murder of an 18-year old girl.
30-year old Doug Maki was sentenced yesterday with no chance for parole for 14-years.
Maki was charged in connection with the death of Melanie Sutton, who disappeared after a house party in March 2000.
Her body was found about three weeks later near a bush road in the Fort Frances area.
Maki pleaded guilty in the case Wednesday.
He also has pleaded guilty to 2-counts of assault and 2-counts of taking hostages in connection with a prison incident last June.
Maki was senteced to 5-years for each count, to be served concurrently with his life sentence.
