Archie Bauer


In loving memory Mr.Archie Bauer. Mr. Bauer was born on July 16th, 1915 in Zelma, Saskatchewan, moving to the Dryden area at a later date. Serving his country during World War II in the armed forces. Upon his return, Archie worked at the Dryden Paper Mill for many years, involved in shipping and loading of trucks and trains until his retirement in 1980. During his retirement he enjoyed spending the winter months in Edgewood B.C. with family on a hobby farm. Archie was an active person, involving himself with social activities. He was a long time and dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he spent much of his time with his many friends. Other interests included music, dancing, and spending time at the Seniors Activity Complex. Archie was proud of his achievements obtained through involvement in bowling, horseshoes, bridge, cards, and seniors games. The medals he won meant so much to him. Learning to water-ski at age 65 with his son and friends was another one of his many accomplishments. The outdoors was very important to Archie and he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his children and grandchildren. Being an animal lover he was particularly fond of his grand daughter’s cat ‘Muffin’, which he called ‘Old Nan’. She often went to visit him at Princess Court. Archie was predeceased by his parents, one sister, and three brothers. He passed away on November 18th, 2002 and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Archie Bauer is survived by children Verna Atkinson of Surrey, B.C., Murial Bauer of Edgewood, B.C., Janis Bontron of Edgewood, B.C., Keith Bauer of Dryden; wife Jenny Bauer of Edgewood, B.C., 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren also survive. Visitation for the late Archie Bauer was held at the Dryden Community Funeral Home on Thursday November 21, 2002 from 4-8 p.m.
Funeral Services for the late Archie Bauer was held on Friday November 22, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home. Legion Service with honour guard to follow with Rev. Mary Mennell officiating. Interment to follow in the Dryden Cemetery.
