Area Man Sentenced in Fatal Hunting Mishap

An 18-year-old Fort Frances-area man has received a conditional sentence and probation stemming from a December 2007 hunting tragedy in Morson Township.
Eric Olsen was sentenced to 80 hours of community service, a curfew and six months of probation.
He must refrain from alcohol consumption and use of illicit drugs and is also banned from possessing any firearms for 7-years.
The Lake of the Woods Township resident pleaded guilty to a charge of careless handling of a firearm in connection with the death of 18-year-old Tyler Cottam of Nestor Falls.
The 2 had been deer hunting with two other teens when Olsen‘s firearm discharged, resulting in the death of Cottam.
