Area MPP Not Impressed With Insurance Move

The Province has announced some moves aimed at giving consumers a break when their car insurance comes up for renewal.
It will lower the minimum medical and rehabilitation coverage to $50,000 from the current $100,000, to keep premium increases lower.
However, Kenora-Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton says that’s not going to make much difference to people facing double digit hikes in their premiums.
Hampton is also accusing the Liberals of caving in to the insurance industry.
Finance Minister Dwight Duncan says the 17 new measures include one that prohibits using a driver’s credit score to determine insurance rates.
